The 9/11

Let us go back to the time when the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon were still standing. It was Tuesday, September the 11th of the year 2001. Probably the darkest day in the history of the United States. Al-Qaeda operatives hijack four commercial airlines, crashing them into the World Trade Center in New York and Pentagon in Washington, DC. A fourth plane crashes in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Close to three thousand people die in the attack. Although Afghanistan is the base for al-Qaeda, none of the nineteen hijackers are Afghan nationals. Mohammed Atta, an Egyptian, led the group, and fifteen of the hijackers originated from Saudi Arabia. The one who planned it all, Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind was hiding from the entire world in Afghanistan and was supported by Taliban. Later, he was executed by the American forces on May 2nd, 2011, in Pakistan.
