War Against Terrorism
After the 9/11 attack took place, the then President George W. Bush declared the “War against terrorism” and response to that the United States sent troops to Afghanistan. Earlier it was only to destroy Taliban’s bunkers, resources, arms, and ammunitions, but it was further decided to send a lot of force to Afghanistan to finish the terrorist organizations. This mission to finish terrorism was started in 2001 with more than 8,000 troops. It continued for 2 decades and ended in 2021. The time for how long the war continued is not the thing to consider. What matters is how Figure 3: American soldiers in Afghanistan. much bloodshed happened, how many families lost their loved ones. There was not any count of how many soldiers were lost by the United States.
